Anvil Point to South Haven Point (The End)

“Little by little, one travels far!   ~ J.R.R. Tolkien  ~Happies: *I’m done! Finished! Stick a fork in me! Hallelujah!! *I met a guy who was just starting the whole trip right as I was finishing. He had done the whole path four years ago in 23 days and is trying to do it in 20 to break maybe an unsupported thru-hike record (the supported/running record is 14 days). He said he’d never seen a recorded attempt of a women doing the trail faster than me. He was super excited to meet me and said he would remember “Bree from … Continue reading Anvil Point to South Haven Point (The End)

Isle of Portland to Anvil Point

~Happies: * Only 10 miles to go!!!! *Multiple nights with a beautiful moon right out my tent door!  *I’ve been lucky to find great camp sites inbetween busy and expensive cities. *Jaw dropping scenery the last few days! The pictures don’t do it justice! *I met a guy and his family as I passed them on the trail. He shook my hand and got a bit chocked up. He said I was living his dream and should be proud of myself. Very kind, but a bit awkward with his kids there as he explained they were the reason he couldn’t. … Continue reading Isle of Portland to Anvil Point

Beer to The Isle of Portland

~Happies: *This section of coast is amazingly beautiful! *I have been blessed with perfect weather and an amazing Super Moon! *I survived all of the diversions today! Every single local I asked for directions just told me to take the bus, as did the signs, but I found my way on the roads. I got to see some really neat estates and hamlets along the way. *I have walked through 7-8 golf courses so far on this trail and so far have not been hit by a ball. Only one close call! I threw the ball back at the guy. … Continue reading Beer to The Isle of Portland

Dartmouth to Beer

~Happies: *I can’t even describe how lucky/blessed I am. Last night was another great example. Even though the demon possessed mileage masher inside me sometimes keeps going even when all rational signs point to STOP, a perfect campsite emerged at the edge of town right before it was completely dark.  *Perfect hiking weather the last few days! *With less than 100 miles to go and 6 days to play with, I can go at a very relaxed pace. I’m going to pretend this last week is my vacation (from my vacation). *I’m staying at an ‘actual’ campsite tonight so I … Continue reading Dartmouth to Beer

Portwrinkle to Dartmouth

Oh boy oh boy! What a strange few days! Crazy weather and extreme highs and lows both figuratively and literally. ~Happies: *Only 160 miles left!! *The sun came out after hours and hours of driving rain. Just like God turned on the blow dryer to give me some relief when I needed it! *It’s always risky getting into a town with only an hour or so of daylight left. Usually you can’t find a place to camp and it’s easy to find yourself stuck in a tough dilemma of what to do (especially when you throw in the timing of … Continue reading Portwrinkle to Dartmouth

Falmouth to Portwrinkle

~Happies: *Unlike Denmark and Sweden, toilets (To let) are readily available here at almost every popular beach. So nice to not have to worry about where to find a bathroom or water. *Tomorrow I will be two thirds of the way done!  It will be my last day in Cornwell. Their famed pasties lived up to their reputation and they’re lovely local ciders were a very nice surprise. *My shins are healing nicely! *Sometimes I think I am blessed with dumb luck, but other times it is completely obvious that God is watching out for me and that, when I … Continue reading Falmouth to Portwrinkle

Porthcurno to Falmouth

~Happies: *HALFWAY!!! *I found a laundry mat and Penzance! Clean clothes!! *At times on this trail I feel like I have the body of the senior citizen and other times I feel like I am quite fit. Luckily the scales are starting to shift more towards fit more often! *I had Pri Pri Chicken and delicious veggies for dinner at my campsite overlooking the beach. Best hiking meal I’ve ever had at camp!!   *A lady asked where I’d walked from that morning and after telling her she said (in a British accent): “Good Heaven’s Love….have you been running?” A … Continue reading Porthcurno to Falmouth

Newquay to Porthcurno

~Happies: *The weather has been much nicer the last few days. *I was so proud and thankful that my little tent withheld some strong winds. *I found a cute B&B near one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen yet. It will be nice to dry my stuff out after a couple wet nights in the tent.  *The orange popsicle pictured might be the biggest happy of all time! Delicious! *When the sun is shinning the color of the water is amazing. *I think I have successfully tried all of the foods I was supposed to in this region … Continue reading Newquay to Porthcurno
